DARIO DEIDDA

Dario Deidda, musician, arranger, composer, double bassist, and bassist from Salerno. He is considered one of the best Italian bassists in the world. He has won the award for best Italian bassist at the Jazzit Award eight consecutive times.

Coming from a family of musicians, Dario Deidda begins studying music from a young age. At six years old, he studies piano with his father and brothers. Later, he dedicates himself to the drums, before finally arriving at the electric bass. At thirteen, he enrolls in the Conservatory of Salerno, attending the classical double bass class.

Attracted mainly by modern authors, he is passionate about Jazz without disregarding other musical genres. In fact, in '99 he played in Pino Daniele's band and later with Fiorella Mannoia. He currently plays in the Kurt Rosenwinkel Standards Trio and Quintet, alongside guitarist Mark Turner and drummer Marcus Gilmore.

After obtaining a diploma in classical double bass, he records with the Sonora Art Quartet and then with the Deidda Brothers. Following are the recordings with the Salerno Liberty City Band and the Trycicle. The Cuban Stories with his brother Alfonso and the percussionist Ernesttico Rodriguez cannot be missed. Other bands he plays with include "Pure Funk Live" by Gegè Telesforo and on tours in Italy with Carl Anderson.

They also recall the appearances in television bands in various programs, such as: "Il caso Sanremo", "D.O.C.", "M. Costanzo Show" with Tullio De Piscopo, "Comici", "Saranno Promossi", "L’ottavo nano" and "Roxy Bar".

He has collaborated with several nationally and internationally renowned artists, both in the Jazz field and in pop and rock: Marcus Miller, Ben Sidran, Vinnie Colaiuta, Michel Petrucciani, Benny Golson, Randy Brecker, and many others.

Furthermore, Pino Daniele, Massimo Urbani, Enrico Pieranunzi, Danilo Rea, Tullio De Piscopo, Giovanni Amano, Marco Siniscalco, Luca Pirozzi, Julian Oliver Mazzariello, Stefano Di Battista. He has collaborated with Marina Rei, Elisa, Max Gazzè, Alex Britti, Niccolò Fabi, Carmen Consoli and many others.
