COURSE DETAILS
The Groove Masterclass course by Marco Galiero is an in-depth journey into the world of groove, designed to enhance the sense of rhythm and the fluidity of performance for every musician.
Through a series of structured lessons, Marco guides students to develop a deep understanding of rhythmic subdivisions and polyrhythm, essential elements for mastering musical genres such as funk, swing, blues, Latin music, and many others.
The course begins with an introduction to the concept of groove, exploring its importance and the techniques to develop it through practical exercises with hands and feet.
Subsequently, Marco focuses on the rhythmic subdivisions, teaching how to count eighths, triplets, and sixteenths with the help of the metronome. These exercises not only improve rhythmic accuracy but also help to understand how to apply these subdivisions to various musical instruments.
A key aspect of the course is learning the accents and specific hits in rhythmic subdivisions, essential for creating a smooth and precise groove. Marco demonstrates how to apply these concepts on bass, piano, and guitar, always keeping the focus on hand coordination and independence.
Rhythmic reading is another pillar of the course. Marco introduces techniques for reading subdivisions and rests, using the metronome to improve the synchronization and fluidity of the rhythm. The importance of correctly reading triplet eighth notes is emphasized to achieve the right feeling, especially in the shuffle and swing genres.
The course also explores Latin music, particularly samba and bossa nova, and their influences on funk. Students learn the specific rhythmic figures of these genres, including short and long sounds and the clave. This rhythmic understanding is essential for correctly performing these musical styles.
A particular attention is dedicated to rhythmic pronunciation and correct accents, essential for performing the groove authentically and precisely.
Marco also introduces polyrhythm and the "three over two," with practical exercises to understand and apply this rhythmic figure, showing their importance in African music and their influence on genres like shuffle and swing.
Marco Galiero's course is a comprehensive experience that provides students with the necessary tools to improve their sense of rhythm and their ability to create complex and engaging grooves. With a combination of theory and practice, Marco offers a thorough guide to becoming more versatile and rhythmically aware musicians.
As always, in addition to the video lessons in 4k and HD audio, you will find a detailed booklet with all the transcriptions of the exercises proposed in the course.
