COURSE DETAILS
The slap technique course on electric bass by Alex Lofoco is a unique opportunity for all bassists who wish to deepen and improve their mastery of this technique.
Alex, known for his innovative and detailed approach, guides students through a journey that starts with the historical and theoretical foundations of slap, exploring the origins and evolution of the technique thanks to legendary figures like Larry Graham, Marcus Miller, and Victor Wooten.
The first lessons introduce the fundamentals of slap technique, focusing on the movement of the thumb and the importance of precision and dynamics.
Through targeted exercises, students learn to perform ascending and descending notes on each string, improving their control and fluidity of movement.
The Double Thumb technique is also explored in depth, allowing for more economical movement while expanding the expressive possibilities of the instrument.
Subsequently, the course explores more complex combinations, such as the double pull and warm-up routines with one, two, and three notes per string.
These exercises help to develop greater fluidity and coordination between the hands, essential for executing arpeggios and triads with precision.
Alex continuously encourages students to experiment and apply these techniques to already known pieces, in order to personalize and expand their own style.
Another fundamental aspect of the course is the in-depth study of scales and arpeggios. Alex demonstrates how to play major and minor triads in different positions, both vertical and horizontal, and how to extend these triads over two octaves.
Furthermore, advanced techniques for pentatonic scales are presented, combining the Double Thumb with the Double Pluck to achieve greater speed and fluidity.
The course is not limited to traditional slap techniques, but also encourages the exploration of grooves and various rhythmic styles. Alex shows how to create rhythmic textures by alternating full notes and Ghost Notes.
This versatile approach allows students to apply slap in different musical contexts, from funk to jazz, significantly expanding their repertoire.
Alex Lofoco's slap technique course is a complete journey through the world of slap bass, providing students with the necessary tools to master this technique and to develop their own unique and distinctive style.
Thanks to detailed explanations, practical exercises, and constant encouragement to experiment, bassists of all levels will find in this course a valuable ally for their musical growth.
