Francesco Buzzurro has been playing the guitar since the age of six and alongside his passion for classical music, he has a deep exploration in the field of jazz that has led him to quickly develop a unique way of improvising in a solo version.
Graduating in Classical Guitar, Foreign Languages, and Jazz Music with honors and a mention of merit, he joins the Sicilian Jazz Orchestra and shares the stage with legendary international jazz musicians including Phil Woods, Arturo Sandoval, Diane Shurr, Bireli Lagréne, Toots Thielemans, Bob Mintzer, Christian McBride, Yamandù Costa and many others.
He collaborates with the Sicilian Symphony Orchestra and with some of the most well-known representatives of Italian pop such as Antonella Ruggiero, Fabio Concato, and the late Lucio Dalla. He is the author of the soundtrack for "Io Ricordo", a docu-fiction about the victims of the mafia by the Muccino brothers, for which he was awarded by President Napolitano.
"Borderline and unconventional guitarist, he holds unified seminars for the classical and jazz guitar departments at the University of Southern California USC in Los Angeles and has recorded numerous albums under his name in quartet and as a soloist, including the very successful 'The Explorer'."
"Awarded the title of Ambassador of Peace with Music by the Lions Delegate to the UN in 2009 in Minneapolis, he is also a Jazz Guitar instructor at the "Scarlatti" Conservatory in Palermo."
Francesco uses archtop nylon string guitars by Mirko Borghino and nylon strings Savarez.
He carries out an intense international concert activity and also holds masterclasses with a strong following of students at Italian and foreign academies, music schools, and universities.
